Dr. Mandy Kellums Baraka, PhD, LCPC

Associate Professor of Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Wheaton College

Dr. Mandy Kellums Baraka, PhD, LCPC, Registered Play Therapist, is Associate Professor of Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Wheaton College. She earned her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Regent University, an MA in Clinical Psychology from Wheaton College Graduate School, and a BS in Elementary Education from Southwest Baptist University. Prior to work in higher education, she lived and worked internationally in South and Southeast Asia and continues to stay connected to mental health professionals around the world providing supervision, consultation, teaching, and support.

Dr. Baraka is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor practicing counselor at Stenzel Clinical Services in Wheaton, Illinois, where she provides services to children, adolescents, and adults. Her clinical expertise includes clinical expertise including trauma-informed care, child and adolescent counseling, play therapy, integration of spirituality in clinical practice. Dr. Baraka has specialized training in expressive therapies, play therapy, career counseling, cross-cultural counseling approaches, and transnational supervision.

Dr. Baraka currently serves as the Illinois Counseling Association President-Elect-Elect and is a graduate of the Association for Play Therapy’s Leadership Academy. She provides ongoing consultation and supervision in international contexts and partners with World Relief to support counseling initiatives and refugee care.
